Country Acres Clean Power project
To support our 2030 Zero Carbon Plan and provide reliable, carbon-free energy, we're developing a solar and battery storage project connected to SMUD's grid.
Project benefits
The project will:
- Provide enough zero carbon electricity to power more than 80,000 homes a year, which is equal to taking more than 25,000 cars a year off the road.
- Contribute more than $41 million to the local economy and support more than 360 jobs in the county during the construction phase.
- Once operational, be expected to contribute $3.7 million to the local economy and $15 million in economic value to the state each year.
Environmental review
SMUD approved the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and the project on April 20, 2023. Placer County approved the project entitlements on February 27, 2024.
Timeline and location
The project will be located on up to 1,170 acres of land in southwestern Placer County, just west of the City of Roseville. SMUD has completed the contracts to construct and operate the project and construction will start in September 2024, with completion in late 2026.
