Rotating outage map
Currently there are no rotating outages. Should we need to implement rotating outages due a power emergency, this page will be updated to show which sections are impacted. Rotating outages help protect the stability of our power grid and lower the risk of widespread outages.
Each outage lasts approximately 1 hour, then rotates to another section(s). More than one section may experience an outage at the same time.

SMUD is providing you with this geographic information of our rotating outage sections. This information can help you prepare for potential rotating outages. It’s a current snapshot of the status of our distribution systems and is general in nature because our electric circuits don’t always conform to street maps. Due to real-time variations of construction, maintenance or other considerations, accuracy of this information is not guaranteed. Not every customer may be impacted during a rotating outage. SMUD will apportion its available supply of electricity among all customers in the manner SMUD deems most reasonable under the circumstances. SMUD assumes no liability for any decisions made by any entity based on the use or reliance of this information.
