Rancho Seco Recreational Area temporarily closed for road resurfacing
Park closed between September 9 – 22
Rancho Seco Recreational Area will be temporarily closed from Monday, September 9 to Sunday, September 22, 2024, for essential road resurfacing. The closure will impact roadways within the park, from Twin Cities Road to the beach and picnic area parking lots.
This temporary closure is necessary to address road conditions and to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors. By completing the resurfacing work in one continuous period, SMUD can reduce overall project costs and minimize future disruptions. Additionally, the number of speed bumps around the RV sites will be increased to enhance safety.
Located just 45 minutes from downtown Sacramento, the 400-acre Rancho Seco Recreational Area offers a variety of outdoor activities, including bird watching, boating, camping, fishing and hiking.
SMUD appreciates the patience and understanding of our customers and visitors as we work to improve the Rancho Seco Recreational Area.
