Did you know that by reducing your electric use from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on weekdays, you're helping us provide cleaner, more renewable energy throughout the Sacramento region?
As you get home from work, thousands of homes like yours start using more electricity.
As customers crank up their A/C, do laundry and wash their dishes, it puts a strain on the electric grid.
This creates a high demand for electricity, which we call peak.
It typically happens weekdays between 5-8 p.m. That's why it's important to shift your use.
By using electricity outside of peak hours, we can use less expensive, more renewable energy sources.
Focus on shifting when you use energy hogs - the appliances that use lots of electricity - like clothes dryers, dishwashers and pool pumps.
To make sure we meet the demand, we may have to purchase electricity from other sources. This electricity is expensive and often isn't as clean as the power we can create other times of the day.
By changing our behavior now, we're helping to prepare for the energy needs of tomorrow.
We're on track to not only meet, but exceed the state's goal of 60% renewable energy by 2030.
Here's how we plan to get there
Reduce electricity usage weekdays between 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
