Encouraging conservation
SMUD uses a three-tier residential rate structure designed to encourage conservation.
Summer (May-Oct.)
All-electric and gas-heated homes

Rates include a solar surcharge of 0.10 cents per kWh to meet Senate Bill 1 (SB1) requirements by the end of 2016.
